Usage:
- Showing an unplanned action completed in an undesired way = end up Ving, in the end V-ed
- Express speaker’s feeling or regret or sorrow.
- Adjective can be used if converted to Verb.  E.g. 나쁘다 -> 나빠지다 (example 6)
- Be often combined with -겠- or -(으)ㄹ 테니까 to refer the subject’s strong intention or will. Adverbs such as 꼭 and 반드시 are often used too.(example 7,8)
- Be also combined with -아/어 버리다 to emphasize speaker’s feeling of regret or sorrow.(example 9)

Examples:
1. 앤디 씨, 시험공부 많이 했어요?
- 아니요. 10분만 잔다는 게 그만 아침까지 자고 말았어요.

- No, my intention of sleeping for 10 min turned into sleeping until the morning.

2. 안나 씨, 이 과자를 다 먹었어요? 다이어트한다고 하지 않았어요?
- 하 개만 먹으려고 했는데 먹다 보니까 과자를 다 먹고 말았네요.
Anna, did you eat all these cookies? Didn't you say you were on a dirt?
- I was going to eat one, but after having one I ended up eating them all.

3. 그렇게 며칠 동안 밤을 세워서 일을 하면 병이 나고 말 거예요.
If you keep staying up all night working for several days, you will end up getting sick.

4. 우리 축구 팀이 열심히 싸웠지만 상대 팀에게 지고 말았어요.
Our soccer team fought hard but they ended up losing the opponent team.

5. 화재가 나서 그 건물이 불에 타고 말았어요.
The fire occurred, and the building ended up burning to ground (regrettably).

6. 담배를 많이 피우더니 건강이 나빠지고 말았어요.
I smoked heavily, and now my health ended up getting bad.

7. 오늘밤까지 이 일을 반드시 끝내고 말겠습니다.
I will definitely to finish this work tonight.

8. 이번 시험을 꼭 합격하고 말 테니까 걱정하지 마세요.
Don’t worry because I will definitely pass the test this time.

9. 피자를 먹어 버리고 말았어요.
I ended up eating pizza  (regrettably).

10. 계속 무리를 하더니 몸살이 나고 말았어요.
I kept working overloaded and now I ended up getting sick.

11. 구경만 하려고 했는데 이 옷이 예뻐서 사고 말았어요.
I planned to have a look, but I ended up buying these clothes since It’s pretty.

12. 영화가 지루해서 잠이 들고 말았어요.
Since the movie is boring, I ended up getting sleepy.
