I. Climate (기후) and weather (날씨)-related vocabularies

 

기후 (5): 기온이 높다 (temperature is high), 기온이 낮다 (temperature is low), 장마 (rainy season), 태풍 (typhoon), 사계절 (four seasons)

날씨 (7): 햇빛 (sunlight), 비가 그치다 (the rain stops), 선선하다 (cool), 쌀쌀하다 (chilly), 구름이 끼다 (cloudy), 안개가 끼다 (foggy), 바람이 불다 (windy).

 

기온이  높다 = temperature is high

기온이 높아서 날씨가 더워요.

The weather is hot because the temperature is high.

 

기온이 낮다 = temperature is low

기온이 낮아서 날씨가 추워요.

The weather is cold because the temperature is low.

 

장마 = rainy season

장마가 와요. 밖에서 놀 수 없어요.

The rainy season is coming. I can't play outside.

 

태풍 = typhoon

태풍이 와요. 바람이 강하게 불고 비도 많이 내려요.

A typhoon is coming. The wind blows strongly, and it rains a lot.

 

사계절 = four seasons

한국에는 사계절이 있어요. 봄, 여름, 가을, 겨울이에요.

There are four seasons in Korea. Spring, summer, fall and winter.

 

햇빛 = sunlight

햇빛이 강해요. 땀이 나요.

The sunlight is strong. I'm sweating.

 

비가 그치다 = the rain stops

비가 그쳐서 우산을 쓰지 않아요.

The rain has stopped so I don't use my umbrella.

 

선선하다 = cool

가을이 되니까 날씨가 선선해요.

Because it is fall, the weather is cool.

 

쌀쌀하다 = chilly

날씨가 쌀쌀해요. 옷을 두껍게 입어요.

The weather is chilly. I wear thick clothes.

 

구름이 끼다 = cloudy

구름이 껴서 해가 보이지 않아요.

I can’t see the sun because it’s cloudy.

 

안개가 끼다 = foggy

안개가 껴서 운전할 수 없어요.

I can't drive because it's foggy.

 

바람이 불다 = windy

바람이 많이 불어서 날씨가 추워요.

The weather is cold because it is very windy.
