This winter, Seoul is about to transform into a glowing Pokémon wonderland — and fans from all over the world are already marking their calendars. From December 12, 2025 to January 4, 2026, the iconic Cheonggyecheon stream will be taken over by Gyarados, Pikachu, and more than 100 Magikarps as part of the 2025 Seoul Lantern Festival.

If you’re a Pokémon fan, a photographer, or simply someone who loves magical winter events, the “I LOVE Magikarp” project by Pokémon Korea is set to become one of the biggest seasonal highlights in Seoul.

1. Spectacular Hanji Lantern Installations
Walk along Cheonggyecheon and watch traditional Korean hanji lanterns come alive in the shapes of Magikarps, Gyarados, and Pikachu.
These intricate lanterns blend Korean craftsmanship with global pop culture, creating a stunning nighttime experience.
2. The Exclusive Magikarp Pop-Up Shop
