First, the film won Best Animated Feature, marking a historic milestone for a K-pop themed movie. Director Maggie Kang dedicated the award to “Korea and Koreans everywhere,” celebrating the growing global influence of Korean culture.
The celebration continued when the film’s hit song “Golden” won the Oscar for Best Original Song, giving the movie its second award of the night.
