어디 = what place, where (question word)

1. 여기는 N입니다: this place is

여기는 Kaist입니다.
Here is kaist.

여기는 서울입니다.
This place is Seoul.

2. 여기는 N입니까?: is this N?

여기는 Kaist입니까?
- 네, 여기는 Kaist입니다.
- 아니오, 여기는 서울대학교입니다.
Is this place Kaist?
- Yes, this is Kaist.
- No, this is Seoul National University.

3. 여기는 어디입니까?: Where is this place?

여기는 어디입니까?
- 여기는 교실입니다.
Where is this place?
- This is a classroom.

4. N에서: at/in N

우리는 Kaist에서 있어요.
We are at Kaist.

나는 대학교에서 영어를 가르칩니다.
I teach English at a university.

월슨은 서울에서 한국어를 공부합니다.
Wilson studies Korean in Seoul.


5. 무엇을 V-입니까/ㅂ니까? : What does (you) do?

6. V-시-ㅂ니까?/ : honorific questions.

월슨 씨는 한국어를 배우십니까?
- 네, 저는 한국어를 배웁니다.
Are you learning Korean, Wilson?
- Yes, I am learning Korean.

*V-으시-ㅂ니까?

무엇을 읽으십니까?
- 한국어 책을 읽습니다.
What are you reading?
- I am reading a Korean language book.


Notes: 

1. 을/를 are noun particles that mark the object of sentence. 을  is used after a syllable that ends with a consonant. 를 is for a vowel.

2. 에서 is a particle that indicates the place where action happens.

3. -시/으시 is an honorific endings that comes between the verb stem and the ending..

4. 나 and 저 mean "I". 저 is commonly used when we talk to a senior, e.g our teachers. 나 is used for casual situations, e.g our friends.
