V-(으)ㄹ게요 grammar = (I) will ~express intention or promise to do something

L1.48 V-(으)ㄹ게요 grammar = (I) will (do) ~express speaker’s intention or promise to do something

Usage:
- Express speaker’s decision or intention to do something or making a promise with someone to do something = (I) will (do)
- Subject of the sentence must be in the 1st person, e.g. 나 or 우리
- Used in colloquial language mainly among intimates
- Can’t be used in question form.

Verb ending in vowel or ㄹ + -ㄹ게요:
가다 → 갈게요
타다 → 탈게요
공부하다 → 공부할게요
*만들다 → 만들게요
*열다 → 열게요




Verb ending in consonant + -을게요:
찾다 → 찾을게요
받다 → 받을게요
*듣다 → 들을게요
*걷다 → 걸을게요
*돕다 → 도울게요

Examples
1. 제가 전화 받을게요.
I will answer the phone.
2. 죄송합니다. 일이 있어서 먼저 갈게요.
I am sorry. I have work to do, so I’ll be leaving now.
 3. 내 책 가지고 왔어요?
- 미안해요. 잊어버렸어요. 내일 꼭 가지고 올게요.
Did you bring my book?
- Sorry. I forgot it. I will definitely bring it tomorrow.
4. 마이 씨의 전화번호를 아세요?
- 네, 알아요. 지금 메시지로 보낼게요.
Do you know Mai’s phone number?
- Yes, I know. I will send you by message now.
5. 이거 너무 어려워요. 가르쳐 줄 수 있어요?
- 그럼요. 제가 가르쳐 줄게요.
This problem is difficult. Can you show me how to do it?
- OK. I will show you.
6.  이거 비밀이니까 다른 사람한테 이야기하면 안 되요.
- 알겠어요. 제가 이야기하지 않을게요.
It is a secret, so you must not talk to someone else.
- I know. I won’t talk to anyone.
7. 이 문제를 해결하기 위해 도와 줄게요.
I will help you solve this problem. 8. 집에 돌아가서 이 책을 읽을게요.
I will read this book when I come back home.
