V- () grammar = would better, be good to ~advice or suggest someone to do something

 

Usage:

- V- 좋다/좋겠다 is used to suggest or advice someone better to do something = would better, be good to, should

- V- 좋다 is the shortened form of V- 것이 좋다.

- V- 좋겠다 has the same meaning as V- 좋다. However, V- 좋겠다 gives the feeling of a careful advice/suggestion.

 

Tense:

Verb + 좋다/좋겠다 = would better, be good to, should

가다 -> 가는 좋겠다

사다 -> 사는 좋겠다

듣다 -> 듣는 좋겠다

먹다 -> 먹는 좋겠다

*만들다 -> 만드는 좋겠다

취직하다 -> 취직하는 좋겠다

유학하다 -> 유학하는 좋겠다

있다/없다 -> /없는 좋겠다

 

Verb- 않는 좋겠다 or Verb- 좋겠다 = would better not, should not

사다 -> 사지 않는 좋겠다

먹다 -> 먹지 않는 좋겟다

만들다 -> 만드는 좋겠다

유학하다 -> 유학하지 않는 좋겠다

 

Examples:

1. 빵을 먹는 좋겠어요.

You'd better eat bread.

 

2. 그걸 숨기는 좋겠어요.

You’d better hide it.

 

3. 따뜻한 차를 마시는 좋겠어요.

You'd better drink warm tea.

 

4. 거짓말을 하지 않는 좋아요.

You'd better not lie.

 

5. 오늘은 쉬는 좋겠어.

You’d better take a rest today.

 

6. 피곤할 때는 집에 가서 쉬는 좋아요.

It's good to go home and rest when you're tired.

 

7. 열이 때는 병원에 가는 좋겠어요.

You should go to the hospital when you have a fever.

 

8. 호텔을 미리 예약하는 좋겠어요.

It would be better to book hotel in advance.

 

9. 첫돌에는 옷이나 금반지를 선물해주는 좋아요.

It's good to give clothes or a gold ring as a gift on the first birthday.

 

10. PC 고장난 같아요.

- 서비스 센터에게 전화하는 좋겠어요.

I think my PC is broken.

- You'd better call the service center.

 

11. 와이프랑 싸웠어요.

- 와이프에게 사과하는 좋겠어요.

I had a fight with my wife.

- You'd better apologize to your wife.

 

12. 토요일 시에 만날까요?

- 오후 2시에 만나는 좋아요.

What time shall we meet on Saturday?

- It's better to meet at 2 p.m.
