On June 04, 2025, Lee Jae-myung was inaugurated as the 21st President of South Korea. In his inaugural address, President Lee laid out a bold vision for a “true Republic of Korea”—a nation built on fairness, opportunity, justice, and unity. Speaking at the National Assembly Plaza in Seoul, he pledged to be a president for all citizens and emphasized his goals to build a capable, inclusive, and transparent government. Respected and beloved citizens, I greet you as the 21st President of the Republic of Korea, Lee Jae-myung, whom you have chosen.

한없이 무거운 책임감과 한없이 뜨거운 감사함으로 이 자리에 섰습니다.
With an infinitely heavy sense of responsibility and an infinitely deep sense of gratitude, I stand here today.

5천200만 국민이 보내주신 5천200만 가지 열망과 소망을 품고 오늘부터 저는 대한민국 21대 대통령으로서 진정한 민주공화국 대한민국을 향한 첫발을 내딛습니다.
With the hopes and aspirations of 52 million citizens in my heart, today I begin my journey as the 21st President of the Republic of Korea, taking the first step towards a true democratic republic of Korea.

정쟁 수단으로 전락한 안보와 평화, 무관심과 무능 무책임으로 무너진 민생과 경제, 장갑차와 자동소총에 파괴된 민주주의를 다시 일으켜 세울 시간입니다.
It is time to restore national security and peace, which have become tools for political conflict, to rebuild the livelihoods and economy that have collapsed from indifference, incompetence, and irresponsibility, and to revive democracy, which was destroyed by armored vehicles and automatic rifles.

Rather than lagging behind and being dragged into change, we must lead and advance in change to seize limitless opportunities.

그러나 안타깝게도, 이 중차대한 시기에 우리는 민생, 경제, 외교, 안보, 민주주의 모든 영역에서 엉킨 실타래처럼 겹겹이 쌓인 복합 위기에 직면했습니다.
However, sadly, at this critical juncture, we are facing a complex crisis, piled up like tangled threads in all areas: people's livelihood, economy, diplomacy, security, and democracy.

대한민국의 현재와 미래가 동시에 위협받고 있습니다.
Both the present and the future of Korea are under threat.

지친 국민의 삶을 구하고 민주주의와 평화를 복구하는 일, 성장을 회복하고 무너진 국격을 바로 세우는 일에는 짐작조차 힘들 땀과 눈물, 인내가 필요할 것입니다.
Saving the lives of exhausted citizens, restoring democracy and peace, recovering growth, and rebuilding national dignity will require unimaginable sweat, tears, and patience.

그러나 그늘진 담장 밑에서도 기필코 해를 찾아 피어나는 6월의 장미처럼, 우리 국민은 혼돈과 절망 속에서도 나아갈 방향을 찾았습니다.
However, like the roses of June that bloom in the shade, our people have found their way forward even amid chaos and despair.

주권자 국민의 뜻을 침로로 삼아 험산을 넘고 가시덤불을 헤치고서라도 전진하겠습니다.
We will push forward, using the will of the sovereign citizens as our compass, overcoming difficult mountains and thorny bushes.

We will begin with the recovery of people's livelihoods and revitalizing the economy.

We will launch an emergency economic response TF with the resolve to face a recession and battle for a better economy.

국민이 맡긴 총칼로 국민주권을 빼앗는 내란은, 이제 다시는 재발해선 안 됩니다.
Civil war-like internal strife, which attempts to take away the sovereignty of the people using national power, must never happen again.

철저한 진상규명으로 합당한 책임을 묻고, 재발방지책을 확고히 마련하겠습니다.

낡은 이념은 이제 역사의 박물관으로 보냅시다.
Outdated ideologies should now be sent to the museum of history.

이제부터 진보의 문제란 없습니다. 이제부터 보수의 문제도 없습니다. 오직 국민의 문제, 대한민국의 문제만 있을 뿐입니다.
From now on, there will be no problem of progressivism or conservatism. There is only the problem of the people and the problem of the Republic of Korea.

박정희 정책도, 김대중 정책도, 필요하고 유용하면 구별 없이 쓰겠습니다.
