The drama follows Yeon Ji-young (Lim Yoon-a), a talented chef who wins a prestigious culinary competition and seems destined for a Michelin-starred future. But after discovering a mysterious ancient cookbook, she accidentally slips back in time to Korea’s Joseon dynasty.
There, she is captured and brought before the fearsome King Yi Heon (Lee Chae-min) — a tyrant known for his cruelty. On the verge of execution, Ji-young saves her life with one extraordinary meal. The king is so impressed that he spares her, but gives her a terrifying ultimatum: become his personal chef, or face death if she fails to satisfy his palate.
What follows is a high-stakes, sweet-and-spicy romance as the modern-day chef struggles to survive palace politics, create inventive dishes, and resist falling for a ruthless king who might not be as heartless as history remembers.
