Chile Lifts Ban on BTS Concerts After Historic ARMY Protests

SANTIAGO, Chile — In a major victory for BTS fans, Chile has officially lifted the restriction that threatened the group's highly anticipated ARIRANG World Tour concerts at Estadio Nacional. The decision follows days of peaceful demonstrations by thousands of ARMY across the country, showcasing the remarkable influence and unity of the global fandom.

BTS Chilean Army Protest

The controversy began after Chilean authorities denied the use of the stadium's central field, citing concerns that BTS's massive 600-ton, 360-degree stage could damage the venue's natural grass pitch. The decision placed the three sold-out concerts, scheduled for October 14, 16, and 17, 2026, in jeopardy despite tickets selling out within hours when they went on sale in April.

Determined to save the concerts, Chilean ARMY organized coordinated peaceful marches across 11 cities on July 5 and 6. Thousands of fans gathered wearing purple, singing BTS songs, carrying banners, and even dressing as grass blades in a creative protest highlighting the stadium dispute. Images and videos from the demonstrations quickly spread across social media, drawing international attention.

Fans also voiced frustration over the government's handling of the situation. One ARMY attending the rally outside Chile's Presidential Palace said:

"I find it really awful the way the government handled things. Since this is not the first event of this magnitude to be held in Chile, for them to close the doors to K-pop and to a group like BTS, I find it unacceptable."

Following the widespread demonstrations, concert promoter DG Medios submitted a revised production plan designed to address concerns about protecting the stadium's playing surface. Authorities have since lifted the restriction, clearing the way for the concerts to move forward under the updated arrangements.

The outcome has been widely celebrated by fans as a testament to the power of peaceful advocacy and community action. Across social media, ARMY members praised the determination and organization of Chilean fans, whose efforts helped keep one of the most anticipated stops of BTS's ARIRANG World Tour on track.

If the concerts proceed as planned, BTS will finally reunite with Chilean ARMY for the first time in years, delivering three sold-out performances featuring the tour's spectacular 360-degree stage production.

For many fans, the decision is about more than just preserving three concerts. It is a powerful reminder that respectful, united voices can make a meaningful impact. Chilean ARMY's successful campaign has already become one of the defining fan stories of the ARIRANG World Tour, proving once again why the BTS fandom is regarded as one of the most passionate and organized communities in the world.
