L1.58 A/V-(으)ㄹ 거예요 grammar = (2) I think ~express a supposition based on a basis directly heard, seen, or experienced.

Usage:
- Express a supposition based on a basis directly heard or seen or experienced = I think...
- When used to indicate supposition, -(으)ㄹ 거예요 can’t used in question form and -(으)ㄹ까요? is used instead (example 8).
- V-(으)ㄹ 거예요 = (1) will, is going to express a future plan or intention

Adjective/Verb ending in vowel or ㄹ + -ㄹ 거예요:
사다 → 살 거예요.
바쁘다 → 바쁠 거예요.
만들다 → 만들 거예요.
길다 → 길 거예요.

Adjective/Verb ending in a consonant + -을 거예요:
먹다 → 먹을 거예요.
입다 → 입을 거예요.
*듣다 → 들을 거예요.
*가깝다 → 가까울 거예요.
*덥다 → 더울 거예요.

Examples:
1. 그 옷을 입으면 더울 거예요.
If you wear that clothes, you will feel hot.

2. 제 생각은 보라색 티셔츠가 잘 어울릴 거예요.
I think the violet t-shirt suits you well.

3. 7시니까 미라 씨는 벌써 퇴근했을 거예요.
I think Mira has already left work because it’s 7:00 pm.

4. 내가 이 옷을 입으면 멋있을까요?
- 네, 멋있을 거예요.
Do you think these clothes will look good on me?
- Yes, I think you will look nice.

5. 여기에서 학교까지 버스가 있어요?
- 네, 그렇지만 대기 시간이 길어서 지하철이 더 편할 거예요.
Is there a bus going from here to school?
- Yes, but the waiting time is long, so (I think) the subway will be more convenient.

6. 마이 씨가 결혼했어요?
- 왼손에 반지를 끼었으니까 결혼했을 거예요.
Is Mai married?
- She has a ring on her left hand, so I think she’s married.

7. 거기까지 시간이 많이 걸릴까요?
- 지금 퇴근 시간이니까 시간이 좀 걸릴 거예요.
Does it take time to go here?
- Since it’s the rush hour now, it will take time.
8. 수지 씨는 화장품을 주면 좋아할까요? (O) / 좋아할 거예요? (X)
- 매일 화장품을 쓰니까 좋아할 거예요.
Do you think if Suzy will like cosmetics if I give her?
- She uses cosmetics daily so (I think) she will like it.
Difference between -겠어요 grammar, -(으)ㄹ 거예요 grammar and -(으)ㄴ/는 것 같다 grammar:

1. A/V-겠어요 grammar = expresses a subjective supposition with no reason or basis = 'look like, sounds, appears'

2. A/V-(으)ㄹ 거예요 grammar = expresses an objective supposition based on a basis like something directly heard or seen or experienced. = 'I think'

3. A/V-(으)ㄴ/는 것 같다 grammar = expresses an objective or subjective supposition regardless of direct or indirect basis = 'look like, sound, I think'

이 식당의 음식이 맛있을까요?
- (1) (잘 모르겠지만 제 생각에는) 맛있을 것 같아요.
- (2) 사람이 많은 것을 보니까 맛있을 것 같아요.
- (3) 손님이 많으니까 음식이 맛있을 거예요.
Do you think this restaurant food is tasty?
- (1) (I’m not sure but I think) it seems good. -> subjective supposition
- (2) Seeing there are many customers, it seems good. -> objective supposition
- (3) Because there are many customers, I think it’s good. -> objective supposition with a basis
