 V-긴 하는데, A-긴 한데, N-이긴 한데 grammar = (yes) but ~admit something but not entirely due to some reasons

 

Usage:

- The grammar is used to acknowledge or admit something but not entirely due to some reasons = (yes) but 

- A/V-긴 한데/하는데 is the shortened form of A/V-기는 한데/하는데

- A/V-긴 한데/하는데 can be replaced by A/V-긴 하지만 without meaning change, however A/V-긴 하지만 emphasizes a higher degree of contrast than A/V-긴 한데/하는데

- Similar grammar: A/V-기는 하다 grammar = but (I think) ~express contrast with emphasis in different view or belief

 

Tense: 

Adjective + 긴 한데 / 기는 한데 

좋다 -> 좋긴 한데

싶다 -> 싶긴 한데

싸다 -> 싸긴 한데

맛있다 -> 맛있긴 한데

예쁘다 -> 예쁘긴 한데

 

Verb + 긴 하는데 (present) / 긴 했는데 (past tense)

배우다 -> 배우긴 하는데

먹다 -> 먹긴 하는데

좋아하다 -> 좋아하긴 하는데

배우다 -> 배우하긴 했는데 

일하다 -> 일한긴 했는데

 

Noun + 이긴 한데 

미인 -> 미인이긴 한데 

사용 -> 사용이긴 한데

색감 -> 색감이간 한데

쓰는 중 -> 쓰는 중이긴 한데

I want to eat, but I can't because I'm full.

I want to play more, but I have to go because of time.

This bag is nice, but a bit expensive.

1. 바람이 좀 불긴 하는데 춥지는 않아요.

It's a bit windy, but not cold.

 

2. 한식을 먹긴 하는데 잘 못 먹어요.

I do eat Korean food, but I can't eat it well.

 

3. 그 소문을 듣긴 했는데 사실인지 아닌지 잘 모르겠어요.

I've heard that rumor, but I'm not sure if it's true or not.
