V-는 한 grammar = as long as, if ~express the condition for the content in the following situation


V-
grammar = as long as, if ~express the condition for the content in the following action or situation

 

Usage:

- V- is used to express that the first clause forms a condition for the content in the second clause = as long as, if

- V- can be replaced by either V-() grammar or V-다면 grammar

 

Tense:

Verb + = as long as

오다 -> 오는

받다 -> 받는

있다 -> 있는

끝나다 -> 끝나는

주문하다 -> 주문하는

 

Specific usage:

1. The grammar is only used with verbs. However, there is an exception in case of “가능하다 -> 가능한 = as …. as possible” and “- 관하다 -> - 관한

 

가능한 빨리 고쳐 주세요. 

Please fix it as soon as possible.

 

가능한 일찍 오세요. 

Please come as early as possible.

 

그는 금융에 관한 전문가 예요.

He's an expert when it comes to finance.

 

문제에 관한 현재로서 아무런 대답도 없어요.

As far as that matter is concerned, I can't give you any answers at this time.

 

Examples:

1. 내가 살이 있는 결혼은 절대 못해! 

As long as I am still living, this marriage will never happen.

 

2. 학생이 명이라도 있는 수업해요. 

The class held as long as there is at least one student.

 

3. 열심히 시험 공부하는 점수를 높일 있을 겁니다.

As long as you study hard for the exam, you will be able to improve your score.

 

4. 돈을 많이 가지고 있는 아무 걱정이 없어요.

As long as you have a lot of money, you don’t have to worry.

 

5. 아무리 어려운 상황에서도 포기하지 않는 희망은 남아 있다.

No matter how difficult the situation, as long as you do not give up, hope remains.

 

6. 내게 힘이 남아 있는 끝까지 한국어를 가르치도록 하겠습니다.

As long as I have the strength, I will teach Korean to the end.

 

7. 술을 끊는 질병은 치료될 있다.

As long as you quit drinking, your disease can be cured.

 

8. 당신이 옆에 있는 , 나는 아무것도 두렵지 않을 것입니다.
